Today there are more and more people who are diagnosed with depression. They are feeling bad and don’t have a good reason for it. If you are trying to build yourself a life with full speed and neglect your vacations and relaxing, this might happen.
Since people who are depressed don’t usually notice it themselves, it might just feel like everyone is against them. You can’t sleep anymore and notice that you are waking up earlier than usual and not being able to fall back to sleep again. This will take it’s toll on your health and you might even start being ill more often.
Usually someone who is depressed gets the first symptoms without knowing what is going on in his or hers life. It is normal to start feeling anguished and like the walls are falling on you. If you feel like you can’t breathe all the time you might be depressed and in the need for and or psychotherapy.
When something that is uncommon happens to you, you might start having these feelings also, and besides just being completely normal, they are also natural and should happen. It is a way to process your feelings and learn from your mistakes, but when the condition keeps on going on, you are talking about long term depression.
When you feel like you are only going through a process by having a short term season of melancholy, you should not get worried about it. Medication or other treatments for depression are not necessary before you have had these feelings for longer than a month and medication is not necessary in all cases even though the results have been great with minimal side effects while using the new generation SSRI’s.
If you feel like you could be depressed it is a good idea to ask people close to you if they have noticed the same thing. If you get a positive answer it is a good idea to go see a doctor for further actions.
